Sound on Screen event at the Hook and Ladder Theatre, Minneapolis, November 2024.

Alyssa is a multidisciplinary visual artist that combines film, music, illustration, and data to create cinematic and dynamic videos.  With a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema from the University of Iowa with minors in both music and theatre, Alyssa uses her extensive background in the performing arts to create visual stories inspired by music, women, and a little magic.

 

Along with her creative endeavors she is a Spotlight Educator for the Hennepin Theatre Trust (providing in person and written feedback to high school theatre students), a frequent grant reviewer for the MN State Arts Board and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, and currently serves on the Gig Fund for Arts Midwest.

She is a FY '24 and '25 Creative Individuals grant recipient from MSAB. Her current project is a non-fiction film called Black Girls Don't Play Bass, a data set driven musical film that explores American institutional bias through a case study on the Minnesota orchestra. In March '25 BGDPB won first place in the Minnesota Film Festival's Live Pitch Competition in the MN Filmmaker Category. It's proof of concept short, Ten Thousand Strings, is currently in production.

She is based in Minneapolis.
